MANILA, Philippines – Filipino couples love to travel, but some destinations in the Philippines are proving to be the top picks for romantic getaways.

Recent travel trends show that couples are prioritizing romantic experiences closer to home, with a notable increase in searches for accommodations in Manila, Cebu, Baguio, Boracay, and Tagaytay by ranking. According to Agoda’s latest accommodation search data for January to February this year, interest in domestic travel surged in time for Valentine’s season, with Baguio seeing the highest growth at 384% compared to the previous year.

There has been a 108% growth in interest from last year for the City of Manila. The bustling capital may not be the first place that comes to mind for romance, but Manila’s legacy hotels, fine dining spots, sunset yacht cruises along Manila Bay, and cultural attractions make it a top choice for adventurous couples who don’t want to stray away from the city.

For couples seeking adventure and relaxation, Cebu’s beaches and luxury resorts emerged in second place. With a 178% increase in searches, Cebu’s famous activities of diving into Mactan’s clear waters, exploring historic sites in the city, or having a private dinner on Bantayan Island’s shores are what tourists head there for.

With its cool climate and pine-covered hills, Baguio is the ideal setting for a romantic and intimate escape. Seeing the highest increase at 384%, The Summer Capital of the Philippines has become a favorite for couples seeking a quiet and cozy retreat. Romantic walks through Burnham Park, sunrise views from Mines View Park, and cozying up in cafés serving locally brewed coffee make this mountain city a top choice for lovebirds.

Boracay remains a favorite for couples because of its soft white sands, iconic sunsets, and beachfront resorts. With a 44% rise in searches, the island remains a timeless choice for romantic activities — private sailing at sunset, beachfront spa treatments, and candlelit seaside dinners.

Just a short drive from Manila, Tagaytay’s cooler weather, scenic Taal Lake views, and cozy accommodations make it an easy choice for couples who want to unwind. Seeing a 145% rise in searches, it remains a go-to spot for quick weekend trips — whether it’s dining with a view of Taal Volcano, booking a private villa, or exploring quaint gardens, farms, and museums.
