MANILA, Philippines – Baron Geisler was arrested for drunkenness and released just several hours later in the early hours of February 22, Saturday.
According to a report by Bombo Radyo Cebu, Mandaue City Police Office Spokesperson Police Lieutenant Colonel Mercy Villaro confirmed that the actor was taken into custody after authorities received a report that he was causing a public disturbance while he was drunk.
His brothers-in-law allegedly tipped police off when he began to throw things around at their house. However, Villaro said that nobody was injured when the incident occurred.
The actor was allegedly released hours later after settling a P500 penalty for violating Mandaue City Ordinance 11-2008-434 (drunkenness or severe intoxication).
Alcoholism and sobriety have been a years-long battle for the 42-year-old actor, who told Philstar.com in an interview that while there are moments he gets tested, he circles back to his “family, faith, and purpose” to get back on track.
Things seem to have gone back to normal for Geisler as his wife posted an Instagram story on Monday, February 24, of the actor at a script reading for a new film alongside Frasco Mortiz and Beauty Gonzalez.
The actor then released a statement on his social media on Monday, saying that “a lot of misinformation” has been circulating about the alleged incident. He also clarified that he is doing okay.
“Irresponsible journalism has blown things out of proportion, creating unnecessary confusion. I want to make it clear — I’m okay, and I’m seeking legal advice to address this properly. To those who continue to stand by me, thank you. Your support means everything,” he wrote.
Geisler currently plays the role of Miguel in the action series Incognito, where he stars alongside Maris Racal, Anthony Jennings, Daniel Padilla, Kaila Estrada, Richard Gutierrez, and Ian Veneracion. He also starred in the hit Netflix movie Doll House in 2022.
He married Jamie Marie Evangelista in 2019.
