MANILA, Philippines – Standup comedian Gold Dagal died following a shooting in Pampanga on Saturday, March 15, Philstar reports.
The comedian’s death was confirmed by a nonprofit organization, Project Jade, who lauded him for standing up “against human rights violations and indoctrination.”
Project Jade, in its Facebook post, added, “Hustisya para sa’yo, Gold. Salamat sa suporta mo sa Project Jade. Pahinga ka na.” (Justice for you, Gold. Thank you for your support of Project Jade. Rest in peace.)
Details regarding his death have yet to be released, though the comedian had reportedly received death threats as a possible result of his comedy, which dealt with the Iglesia ni Cristo, and social commentaries regarding upholding human rights. – Rappler.com
